With the time change last month, my evening commute is now done under the cover of night. If no one can see me while I’m on my bike, there’s no point in looking pretty, is there? So I’ve been trying to step up my hi-viz steez.
Fortunately Cole Haan has expanded their one-year-old Shine On line of perfectly classic reflective shoes.
The coolest part is that under normal lighting the shoes are dark grey, silvery white, or lipstick red. None of my daytime friends will suspect what a hi-viz nerd I am!
These would be perfect for a Two Heels And Wheels ride to the club.
My favorites are the red-hot, wingtip oxfords.
What’s your favorite way to wear reflective gear?

OMG I am sooo excited to find this post! This is the perfect accessory to my reflective clothing! (http://tinlizzieridesagain.wordpress.com/2012/12/06/my-starry-night-skirt-a-glow/) Cost be damned!!! Thanks for sharing!
That would be a sweet cycling outfit. Your skirt is adorable! That is such an excellent project. Can’t wait to see what else you put reflective piping on.
Shut. Up. I need this just for walking around at night!
Word. They are totally rad. They have other reflective accessories too, but the shoes are badass.
I took advantage of the extra 25% off sale and took home the Argento Oxfords and Tango Red penny loafers. Both pairs are comfy through a day of work and bike ride home. But one warning about biking in these shoes: You definitely need a good platform pedal to make solid contact with the tiny patch of grippy outsole.
On a happier note, Cole Haan just released five more reflective spring colors in the penny loafer.
Awesome! I’m so glad that they are expanding the line.
Thanks for the warning. I get platform pedals that work for my shoes, rather than the other way around.
Although I have found that covering the sole with a layer or two of duck tape can work in a pinch!
