Why hasn’t anyone done this before? Orp: The Combo Bike Horn and Bike Light

Prototype of the Orp Horn mounted on flat handlebars

Introducing Orp: a super-sleek and loud combination bike horn and bike light. Tory Orzeck, a former industrial designer at Nike has applied his skills to bicycle commuter accessories and come up with this clever gizmo.

Did I say loud? This little clip-on beeps out at 96 decibels.

Orp’s Decibel Chart comparing cars, elephants, helicopters, airplanes, guns, and spaceshipsI know someone who would love to receive one of these in his stocking! Much nicer than the super-practical Lump of Coal BikePretty Santa was planning on giving.

On top of that, it’s USB rechargeable and comes in six spiffy colors, including glow-in-the-dark!

6 colors of Orp: Asphalt Black, Frostbyte White, Wail Blue, Safety Cone Orange, Snot Green

Unfortunately for holiday shopping, the Orp only exists in prototype form on Kickstarter.

Happy Hornidays! Holiday Greeting from Orp!

You can learn more about the project here. Don’t watch the video until after the 1:06 mark, when they’ve gotten the scary stuff out of the way.

If the project is fully backed by the February 11 deadline, estimated delivery is September 2013. Can’t wait!

    • That is another awesome project! I really hope both of these get funded. Can’t have too many honking things attached to your bike, I always say.

  2. I like Orp better than that big, heavy bolt on contraption that’s going toi get stolen or destroyed along with my bike if i park it outdoors
