Cycle Style - SF Attempts a Euro Look
Cycle Style - SF Attempts a Euro Look
Last week Bike Snob NYC challenged the honor of San Francisco cycle style. The reason? Publicity.
please dress as "Euro" as possible (interpret that as you will), and if you have a Dutch bike or similarly practical (or hefty) city bike then ride it.
Specifically for the filming of a book trailer for the Snob's latest tome. (Have you ever seen a book trailer before? They can be pretty rad. Also, I kept saying we were filming a bike trailer. I'm a nerd. )
BSNYC was once again collaborating with Plus M Productions. They are the geniuses behind this velo-discotheque marvel and this performance-vs.-fixie polemic. Anyway, their creative vision for the trailer meant they put out an open call for spandex-free, Euro-styling cyclists.
The shoot was a lot of fun. We pretty much took over South Park. Or we would have, except that a whole bunch of cops showed up on the scene (unrelated to the filming) and they were kinda harshing our relaxed, old world vibe.
South Park also happens to be the location of Public Bikes' first retail space. And Dan showed up with this orange beauty. Once the cops finished ignoring us and split, we were ready for our closeups!
Not really. They just filmed us while we rode around the park and avoided looking at the camera. Comme ça!
Do you think we pulled of European style cycle chic? That's basically dresses + trench coats + scarves and optional helmets, right?
