Hello! It's good to be back.
Technically I came back from maternity leave months ago. But I've been working on behind-the-scenes stuff like relaunching our best-selling Straw Hat Bike Helmet, updating the shop, and taking care of this little dude, of course.
I also got a new bike! I have wanted a Papillionaire of my very own ever since I reviewed one way back in 2013. And I was thrilled to get my hands on the red 8-Speed Sommer step-through. It's a pop of color on our foggy San Francisco days.
Can you believe that it's been over a year since my last outfit post? Not coincidentally, that was the post where we announced our pregnancy. Looking back, I remember most of that time as a heady mix of naps and insomnia, which culminated in the birth of our son Valentine via emergency C-section on December 15.
My recovery was no joke. I couldn't walk more than a few slow steps for about eight weeks after the surgery. Fortunately, my mom lives nearby and we had arranged to stay with her family for the first three months (otherwise known as the fourth trimester) after giving birth.
Having the support of my mom, step-dad, little brother, and little sister was like this crazy miracle of awesomeness. Each month I've been able to get out on my new bike more and more.
We've even been able to go on a few family bike rides!
