Fashion Trend Spring 2013 - Lip Print
Fashion Trend Spring 2013 - Lip Print
I've noticed a lot lip prints this season. First Erin Fetherston took inspiration from a kissed cocktail napkin. Then Chiara of The Blonde Salade [worst blog name ever? Discuss -ed.] got her mitts on au jour le jour's sweater and blouse from the Pre-Fall [why not Summer? -ed.] 2013 Collection during Milan Fashion Week. And finally, Asos put the Oasis Lip Print Peplum Dresson sale!
I have two rules for prints: no words and no faces. I think they detract from the wearer too much. But lips don't really count. See what I mean?
Looking back, we really have Prada Resort 2012 to thank for this trend. Or is it Prada Spring/Summer 2000?
My lip print is actually an ankle length skirt that I hoisted up as a dress through the clever use of grommets and shoelaces. I found it at a vintage clothing store on Via Romana in Florence, just a few doors down from where I lived at the time. Clothes make the best souvenirs!
Get this, the skirt also has a matching jacket! But, as they say, that is a lot of look. The proprietress of the store told me that the outfit came from a theater. It was the costume for the gallery-owner character in a play. Makes sense.
I don't own a lot of white. In fact, I got this Vivienne Westwood jacket off ebay with every intention of dyeing it a more flattering shade. But I like how fresh it looks here with the navy and magenta.
Another day, another chance to bike in a pair of high-heel Fluevog boots. These are about as high as I can handle and tend to hurt my feet after standing for a couple of hours. They are best suited for biking around and looking pretty.
Sunnies are Tom Ford and helmet is from Giro.
