How to Bike in a Maxi Skirt: Blonde woman poses next to a bicycle while wearing a long skirt

Some days you just have to wear your leopard-print dress. Even if it has a maxi skirt. And even if you do want to ride your bike.

Step 1: Just pull the skirt to one side by the hem and tie an overhand knot in the fabric.

Step 2 (optional): Look as smug as you possibly can. Just like I'm doing here.

Step 3: Ride your bike.

Depending on how tight your dress is, you might want to slightly pull the skirt up around your hips so you can pedal. Wearing dignity protectors will make it less likely that you flash someone, but they aren't necessary.

Gold leather biker jacket is from Zara. Leather belt is an 80's treasure from my mom.

To match the orange eyes and tongues of the leopards on my dress, I'm wearing Marbella Lipstain in Orange Red. It's my new favorite lippy.

Shoes are vintage Ferragamo. My dress is a Saks Fifth Avenue resort cover up from the seventies. I found a few similar dresses on Etsy:

Skirt guards are the best! I wish they were standard on all step-through bikes!

I bike almost exclusively in skirts! I have skirt guards on my bike for this very reason as well as a chain guard. Remember, Victorian women used to bike so it has been done for quite some time.

What a cute video! Personally I would still tie a knot, even in a full skirt like the one she wears in the video. Otherwise I might end up dropping it during my ride.
