Be Inspired: The Béret Baguette Ride
Our mini-version of the Béret Baguette ride in Golden Gate Park. Striped Jersey by Ligne 8. Black Bike Skirt (and Bloomers) by Bikie Girl Bloomers.
The Béret Baguette is an extremely picturesque bicycle ride that takes place in Paris every summer. Think of it as the French answer to the Tweed Run. Recently the ride has exploded in popularity. In 2013 there were over 1000 cyclists and 2014 saw even more. (Not that there was an official count. Who can be bothered when there is delicious wine and cheese to consume?)
Bike Pretty editor Kelly has been lucky enough to attend a few times and reports that it is indeed a magical experience fully of lovely bicycles, charming chapeau, and loads of je ne sais quois that is not to be missed.
Don't you think it's about time that San Francisco had a Béret Baguette ride of its own? Bike Handsome and I had a wonderful time organizing the SF Tweed Ride last year. So we thought "hey, why not do it all over again, but in French?"
We're planning on making this an easy, sociable ride where style is more important than speed. And of course there will be a picnic party at the end.
The date of the ride is To Be Decided, but we're thinking end of May or possibly June. Sign up for our newsletter to get updates!
