Cycle Style - SF Bike Party and Wear Red Day
The theme for the last SF Bike Party was "Red" in honor of National Wear Red Day. I got to wear my favorite red boots from Milan.
Any excuse to wear my favorite red lipstick lip stain: Josie Maran Magic Marker in Flamenco. Observing the classic makeup rule of lips or eyes, I kept the rest of my look simple. My base is Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. I smudged a bit of Urban Decay 24/7 Black Eyeliner on the outer half of my lash line. I made sure to get the pencil between my lashes and along the upper waterline.
After that I curled my lashes and applied Maybelline XXL Mascara with the primer. Since I tend to get dark circles, I used the amazing Benefit Watt's Up highlighter in the inner corners of my eyes. Just to brighten things up. I skipped the blush since I was about to pedal my way to a natural healthy glow. And I finished with a generous dusting of Cover Girl pressed powder. The dress is a vintage number that I found in my mom's closet. Seriously, an amazing score.
But isn't that frustrating? So I found a few similar dresses for you here. Because my dress is a little too big, I cinched it in with an American Apparel elastic belt. My over-the-knee socks are also from American Apparel. I like how the dried blood Burgundy color contrasts with the brighter red, but they don't stay up as well as these. My helmet is like this one from Giro.
There is so much material in the gathered skirt of this dress! While riding, I found it helpful to tie a couple of knots in it to keep from snagging the delicate material. It's not totally necessary, but I like how it makes me look a bit like a can-can dancer.
Let's go!
