Visiting Honey Cooler Handmade's Studio
Honey Cooler Handmade Studio Visit
It's such a treat to visit a designer's studio, especially one filled with lovely lingerie. Being a fashion design nerd, I was super-excited when Stephanie invited me to the Honey Cooler Handmade headquarters.
Her silk camisoles and ribbon corsets are exceptionally glamorous. And usually there's nothing glamorous about a sewing room. Often there's a bright, fluorescent-lit table with a hulking industrial sewing machine and tons of fabric scraps everywhere. There's a thrill in seeing the contrast between such serious machinery the delicate beauty it creates.
However my jaw dropped when I entered Stephanie's jewel box of an apartment. It's as pretty as any of her pieces. I wish that I could do it justice, but I don't know the first thing about photographing interiors. You can get a peek in the S/S 2012 section of her gallery. Fortunately she started pulling out the merch and I got down to taking detail shots.
That afternoon we had a great brainstorming session and decided to collaborate on a short Outfit of the Day series. It's all about wearing under-garments as cycle chic. The first installment is here. Come back soon for the second and third outfits.
