As promised, I'm presenting the fashion how to that I mentioned in yesterday's post.

Copper tape is sold at hardware stores and gardening centers. Gardeners use it on their flower pots as a man slug repeller!

This will help the copper foil tape stick. Rough up the finish a little bit. Just until the surface looks less shiny and more matte. Wash the heels with dishwashing soap to remove dust and oils. Dry thoroughly.

Gently fold one corner back and forth until the backing separates from the copper foil. You can easily peel the rest off.

Press and smooth the copper down so it sticks well. But don't worry about wrinkles. That's part of the charm.
Don't press the copper tape into the upper. The finish of the leather might be damaged by sticky adhesive. Use the butter knife to gently score the copper foil at the seam. This will cut the foil so it's flush to your heel. Peel the extra off of the upper for a nice clean edge.

Overlap the edges of the tape for good coverage. At the base of the heel, just fold the copper over the edge. You don't have to completely cover the sole.

Now you can easily wrap the foil around without it wrinkling. Fill in any bare spots with smaller pieces of copper tape. And trim off the excess.
